Pip Tip Tuesday & GET TO WORK BOOK Giveaway

Planning is like the beautiful child of two long loved crafting traditions: scrapbooking and journaling. It’s 2D (puffies unfortunately don’t fare well in a planner), and can document the minutia of your life in a way that’s satisfying and beautiful. Better yet, it’s functional and LOW pressure since there’s always a new layout and week ahead of you.

It’s a lot more fun to stay on top of your schedule when you can keep it in a beautiful planner, embellish it with stickers, and admire it every time you check in on what’s going on.

There is a fine line however between planning and decorating. And, trust me, it’s a VERY slippery slope! Hopefully, you have the luxury of spending as much time as you want on your planner set up. If you don’t have tons of time however, it’s still possible to join the planner craze (and still worth the investment in all those sticker, pen, and washi hauls, haha)! This week’s tip…

Make the form follow function!

If you’re busy busy busy, it’s crucial that you balance the form and function of your planner so that you can not only have a pretty schedule, but also actually get sh*t done!

In order to do this, I start decorating the spreads in my planner with a few “base” layers: washi tape and color blocked stickers to highlight important or recurring things. From there, I write in what’s coming. And, sometimes, that’s all I get to!

This usually takes about 11-20 minutes and voila!

If you use the color combo inspo I talked about last week, you can have a minimally decorated planner that looks super fresh and inspiring and keeps you on track. And, the beauty of it all is that if time opens up during the week you can add to it!

Be sure to keep the other stickers and stuff that would go well with the layout close by so you can pop them in when you get a free minute or two.

  1. I posted on Instagram, but I’ve been really thinking about diving into the Get to Work Planner for all my job search/employment related tasks. It would be nice to keep it separate and professional looking. Thanks for an amazing giveaway!

    1. I dont have social media..So I am going to tell what i do regularly to keep my planning going..I use my handy beautiful planner to jot down reminders and important things this way i can always be using it!i can be a daily use!but sadly i dont have a big enough planner to write all my notes:(

  2. I use a bullet journal for planning and make out a few months in advance with just the month and number the days. I underline important days and decorate all throughout the month.

  3. I’m ALWAYS writing in my planner…writing things down helps me to remember things a lot easier! I also love using arrow stickers, to highlight the super-duper important dates.

  4. Color code and I use stickers like I have an unlimited supply. I also add little life events and have calendars from 2004 to current. They give a glimpse into my life. That’s how I keep them going. I make them more than a planner.

  5. I tend to like simple, almost minimalist planners because anything too structured doesn’t fit my schedule. Lately I’ve been keeping on track by using my stickers and highlighters; fun supplies keep me enthusiastic about looking at my planner every morning.

  6. My best friend makes me laugh every day especially when I’m stressed out about work. We get bubble tea to relax. I tend to color code my planner and prioritize with highlighters.

  7. I color code things so I remember everything I have to do for work and at home with my critters (which is a lot when you have a menagerie like me). Highlighters help me remember what’s really important, and stickers help to keep it looking cute and also point out more important things.

I got one of those coloring-planners this year, so I can relax while plotting what to write in my planner. Pretty excited to see how it turns out.

  8. I need help being consistent with using a planner. Full-time teacher, mother-of-three, parent volunteer. That should be enough reason to use a planner, right?! I just neeed to work on building the habit.

  9. I am OBSESSED with my BuJO 🙂 My better half, William, is super supportive of my new creative outlet because he knows it’s great self-care for me- and he always brings that sunshine into my life. <3

  10. I have been trying out bullet journaling this year. So far so good. I like to keep it rather minimalistic. I always add one sticker per page. That way it’s not overwhelming but still fun.

  11. I’m pretty new to the world of planners. After my graduation I’m finally starting to work this year and until now I’ve somehow managed to get through using tons and tons of To-Do lists. So I’m VERY much looking forward to my first real planner this year! 🙂

  12. I dont have social media..So I am going to tell what i do regularly to keep my planning going..I use my handy beautiful planner to jot down reminders and important things this way i can always be using it!i can be a daily use!but sadly i dont have a big enough planner to write all my notes:(

  13. Honestly – I just have to be consistent making some time each morning or evening to get to it. Some days i’m more inspired that others – but getting to look back at all of colorful pages of my life is so worth it!

  14. Hello! I try to jot down all my to-do’s at least for two days while also leaving some space in case I need to add a last minute item 🙂

    What really inspires me

  15. Heyyyy! Great giveaways! And I’m really proud of my kids! My 3 Teenagers that even through some struggles and junk they are still pretty cool (amazing) lil people and just do the best with what they have! And honestly don’t complain (to much) lol… And a good brain dump always keeps me going!!
    xoxo
