Just as her name suggests, Sareka Unique’s art is distinctively her own- and filled with happy bright pops of color. Sareka’s focus is on surface pattern design and she can turn an ordinary item into a kaleidoscope of fun (kind of like stickers!).
Sareka’s Instagram is filled with bright designs and inspiring messages that capture her true Girl Boss nature. In addition to her pattern design hustle, Sareka mentors other creatives to help them build their brand!
She creates designs that seamlessly transfer from canvas, to notebooks… to basically anything you can imagine!

Where do you live? Where are you from?
I live in Ypsilanti, Michigan. I am from Detroit, Michigan.
What do you LOVE?
Tacos, the color turquoise, art supplies, home, rose gold jewelry, bonfires
What do you dislike?
Beets and Liars!
What did you want to be when you grew up as a child?
A doctor, lawyer, singer, a number of things.
What do you do for work?
Illustration
How long have you been in the creative industry?
I went to school for Graphic Design and that was about 10 years ago.
What’s the thing you’re most proud of making?
I’m pretty proud of everything I make. I am more proud of some of the accomplishments that have come from me doing what I love in spite of adversity. Like having my work featured in a Surface Pattern Design Publication, or being asked to judge the Annual Society of Illustrators competition.
What’s an exciting idea you’ve had recently?
To create a space for black girl Illustrators to connect and grow.
What’s your favorite color combination right now?
Turquoise, pink and yellow.
What’s your favorite Karaoke Song?
The boy is mine
What’s in your perfect trail mix?
Macadamia nuts and peanut butter m&m’s
What food could you eat all day every day?
